I see London…..

May 8, 2008

Our friends JB and Colleen decided to take a vacation to London and Paris, so we decided to meet up with them in London for a long weekend. We flew into Heathrow on Friday morning, and after a short train ride into the city we got to our hotel – and what a great one it was (really it was, no sarcasm). We booked it through Hotwire for a pittance, and it was right on Trafalgar square. If only Hotwire could have done as good a job in Munich, but that’s for another post.

Nelson's column

Since JB and Colleen had been in London a couple of days before us, we arranged ahead of time to meet at Nelson’s column in Trafalgar Square. It was great to get to see them again. After a some fish and chips (and a beer or two) we took the tube over to the Tower of London.

We took the guided tour at the tower that was given by one of the “Beefeaters” They are the traditional guards at the tower and I guess how the gin is named after.

The next day Lori met up with some friends for brunch while Colleen, JB and I went to the St. Paul’s Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, and then took a break in a park to enjoy the nice weather. After that, we went to the Natural History Museum where we met up with Lori.

The next day we went to the markets in Notting Hill. In the afternoon, we went to the Tate Modern for a few hours before Lori and I had to head for the airport. Overall, it was a great trip, and we were really happy to get to see our friends for the weekend!
